One most common word on the lips of everyone is “love” we crave to love and be loved, this is often shown in our daily activity. Our dressing, smiles, greetings, work tells we all have innate in us the potent to love.
I have been pondering why the bible dimed it fit to attribute love to God. “ is of God...God is love” (1 John 4: 7&8). Read again between lines, God is love, but love is not God but rather of God. I think this due to the fact that love have been misconstrued and rendered into different selfish motives as the morality of the world teeter daily into oblivion. It is therefore paramount to make succinct that what fills the heart of God is love for man “ what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him”( psalm 8: 4) but what feels the heart of men is love if not lust for fellow men (opposite sex).
Its now right to have the love of God then translate same to man, only then can we genuinely love without wrong motive. Often times lust is been used in place of love, regularly we rave out words we term “love” but lacking the basic constituent thereof.
Love is a package that houses mercy, grace, discipline etc., and never craves for sexual engagement (outside marriage) nor emotions and euphoria of seemly belonging to a set of class (big boys and girls).
It is pertinent we retrace our step back to adopting God’s kind of love and live it in our relationships, marriage and daily endeavours, bringing to a halt this array of divorce, heart breaks and killings. It is of interest to note 14th February is often celebrated and also attributed to love though its purpose defeated have seen an avalanche of abominable act fronted to the dead of our conscience.
Love is noble, respectful, holy, peaceful and true. Lets live its original meaning.
